Designated US au pair agencies

If you are planning to become an au pair in America (USA) or you are an American family willing to host an au pair, you should know that the only way for an au pair to get the legally required J1 visa is to go through one of the 13 federally designated au pair agencies or one of its partner organisations in the respective country. It is not possible to become an au pair if there is no partner organisation in the country of the young person who wants to become an au pair in the USA.

Our Recommendation

Search and find a nice au pair or a matching host family on Aupair World. The au pair and the host family should then choose one of the 13 agencies listed below. It is advisable to choose an agency which has a local representative near the host family's home. The family should ask the local representative for a discount as the matching has already been done by themselves.

The families have to pay the agencies between 4.000 and 5.500 $ (US-Dollar) fees upfront in addition to the au pair's weekly pocket money.
